South Africa’s Social Security Agency, known as SASSA, has reopened the application for a special R350 Covid-19 Social Relief of Stress (SRD) grant. Applications opened on August 6 and will close in March 2022.

Special COVID-19 Social Distress Relief is R350 per month from the date of approval. Applicants will be paid from the month of application there will be no backpay.

Finally, the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu, provided details of how the Sassa R350 Grant Application Online will work. All applications must be made electronically/digitally. Only one of the channels below should be used and you only need to submit one application.

Eligibility For Sassa R350 Grant

  • South African Citizens, Permanent Residents or Refugees registered with Home Affairs;
  • Resident within the borders of the Republic of South Africa;
  • Above the age of 18;
  • Unemployed;
  • Not receiving any income;
  • Not receiving any social grant;
  • Not receiving any unemployment insurance benefit and does not qualify to receive unemployment insurance benefits;
  • Not receiving a stipend from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme;
  • Not receiving any other government COVID-19 response support; and
  • Not resident in a government funded or subsidised institution.

Sassa R350 Grant Application Online is done on SRD WEBSITE which can be accessed as follow

  • Open Internet browser
  • Search for: https://srd.sassa.gov.za
  • Applicant capture ID number and mobile then click send sms button
  • Applicant will receive a 6 digit OTP number
  • Applicant must insert the OTP number and click verify pin
  • Read Declaration and Consent Document
  • Agree to the content of the Declaration and Consent Document
  • Read and understand the You and Your Special COVID-19 SRD Grant document
  • Agree to understanding the contents of the You and Your Special COVID-19 SRD Grant document

There after you will be requested to provide your Personal Details such as ID Number, Name, Surname as it is printed on the ID Document/ Card and also Provide other Details e.g. address, gender, etc

Proceed by Submit Banking Details/ Choose Payment Option as follows

Clients with Personal Bank Account

  • Provide Account number
  • Provide Branch Name
  • Provide Account Type
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions
  • Submit Banking Details

Clients without Personal Bank accounts

  • Choose Payment option- Cash Send

Then once that complete you will receive a text message on the number you provided below.
