Western Cape Provincial Treasury Bursary 2021/2022

Western Cape Provincial Treasury Scholarship 2022. The Western Cape Provincial Treasury is responsible for achieving the desired social, economic, and governance outcomes in the Western Cape by providing the province with strategic financial management. The department is responsible for the regulation and oversight of the financial affairs of the Western Cape government.

The Provincial Treasury is specifically responsible for the strategic and operational management of the county, asset-liability management, fiscal governance and accounting, regional and local government public finances, and public policy services. These are all within the legislative context of Section 18 of the Family and Maritime Administration Act and Section 5 of the Mine Action Administration Act (MFMA).

In 2008 we launched a bursary programme to provide our youth with the opportunity to access tertiary education through bursaries. Bursary applications open in July and close by the end of September every year.

Western Cape Provincial Treasury Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded to Grade 12 learners and qualified undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to pursue careers in:

  • Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Supply Chain Management

How to Apply Western Cape Provincial Treasury Bursary 2021/2022

The application can be done through the following online application link at https://www.westerncape.gov.za/treasury-bursaries/bursary-application

Note

If you have previously applied before 19 June 2021, you will need to apply again to ensure your details have been captured correctly.

Accompany your application form with certified copies of the following (for online applications, the file size should have a maximum 2MB per file and must be in pdf format);-

  • Identity Document
  • Letter of motivation
  • November Grade 11 and June Grade 12 results (applicable to Grade 12 applicants only)
  • Acceptance letter from institution or proof of application at a tertiary institution
  • Academic results from a tertiary institution (not applicable to grade 12 applicants)
  • Grade 12 certificate (not applicable to applicants currently in grade 12)
  • Degree, diploma already obtained, if any
  • Household income/salary statement/affidavit of income
  • Written estimation of study costs

All applicants will be notified by 30 November 2021. However, if you do not receive any response within three months after the closing date for applications, please consider your application as unsuccessful.

Western Cape Provincial Treasury Bursary 2021/2022 Requirements

To qualify for a full-time bursary from the Provincial Treasury, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen who resides in the Western Cape
  • Be between 17 and 35 years old
  • Obtained an average of 60% or higher for the previous year of study at high school or university
  • Not in receipt of any other bursaries
  • (if a postgraduate applicant) already obtained a B. Degree within one or more of the targeted fields of study
