SA Youth was officially launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Youth Day 16 June 2021 as part of the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI)* and works to pool opportunities and connect unemployed youth to jobs and work experience.
SA Youth is the National Pathway Management Network, an initiative that brings together eight government departments led by the Ministry of Employment and Labour, in a strong partnership with Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator and other organizations, to form a network that supports young people to find pathways in the economy.
Through these partnerships, we have developed an online platform called SA Youth.mobi. Young people can create a profile, view learning and earning opportunities, and receive support through multiple channels. SA Youth.mobi has been zero-rated by all mobile networks so that it can be accessed by young people from anywhere in the country at no cost whatsoever.
This complements current efforts to create physical spaces where young people can go to access information, opportunities, and support including NYDA Centers and will include 127 job centers operated by the Department of Labor and Employment in each county.
