President Samia Appoints Wambura As New IGP
On Wednesday, July 20, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Camilius Wambura as Tanzania’s Inspector General of Police. Before being appointed as IGP, he was the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI). This inspector general will replace former officer Simon Sirro who was named Ambassador to Zimbabwe.
Former Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Sirro was appointed to the top police job on May 29th, 2017 after he replaced Ernest Mangu. Furthermore, Ramadhan Hamisi Kingai has been newly appointed as the new Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The most recent appointees are scheduled to be sworn in today at State House Chamwino, Dodoma, according to a statement from the directorate of Presidential Communication that was released in the wee hours of Wednesday.
